“This magnificent building is called The Bridge, the sleek shelter was designed by Overland Partners Architects in collaboration with CamargoCopeland Architects, and provides not only a visually striking addition to the neighborhood, but a safe haven for people to turn to when they have nowhere else to go. According to the press release, the shelter’s surrounding area has seen a crime reduction of 18%, which in itself is a testament to the power that design can wield when it is executed with a vision of bettering lives” (Inhabit). This beautiful building wasn’t just built, but carefully constructed to reduce energy consumption, and give those inside a sense they were still connected with the outside.

THIS is a community project that wants to make a difference in the lives of these people. Creating a sanctuary, a haven for these people to feel safe in, to feel welcomed into, to feel cared for, and to feel they too are taking steps to better to the environment, is what will deter crime on the street.

Inspiration: My Homeless Homies Teach Me a Lesson or 2

Homeless in brand new Dr. Martens boots

Perfect make up, matching shoes with matching tops, with perfect curls is soooooo last year. Today is about being unconventional, bringing out the unexpected. Fashion now is a mix of everything..grunge, rock-n roll, and a dash of glam.  My inspiration? I get it from these homeless homies on the street. I mean take a look at this homie,  it is obvious he hasn’t taken a shower for God knows how long and its also obvious that he didn’t take an hour to rethink what he was about to wear that morning. But for some odd reason h’es got it going on! Im sure he layered on whatever he has collected, matching or not, atleast it keeps him warm, right? Take a look at those bangin’ red combat shoes with the yellow laces, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were named vintage Prada, right? His tucked in grey almost acid washed like jeans with his statement orange shirt layered with an oversized combat jacket. Put this outfit on a runway model of the Dsquared Fall 2009 Ready To Wear collection…she would fit right into their collection.
